STEELS/STEM Summit

Tuesday, February 11, 2025 - 1:30 pm - 4:00 pm at The Hotel Hershey
PETE&C welcomes its first combined STEELS/STEM Summit! Attend this summit and participate in engaging sessions that explore the STEELS standards, as well as resources to support teaching and learning anchored in integrated STEM pedagogy. Delve deeper into STEM topics, explore tools, engage in hands-on lessons, and continue the conversation on how these resources promote problem-solving and support student engagement! The STEELS/STEM Summit takes place on Tuesday afternoon of the conference at the Hotel Hershey.

Picture of Keynote: The new Pennsylvania STEELS (Science, Technology & Engineering, Environmental Literacy & Sustainability) standards are more than just an update to what content should be part of our curricula, but instead incorporate practices students should engage in when learning big ideas in science. This shift in focus toward process and high-leverage science concepts provides an opportunity for Science, and STEM teachers more broadly, to develop innovative and ambitious ways of teaching. Our STEELS/STEM Summit Keynote presenter is Professor of Science Education, Department Head of Curriculum and Instruction, and Director of the Krause Studios for Innovation at The Pennsylvania State University, Dr. Scott McDonald.
