In today's educational scene, there is a big push to incorporate coding into curriculum. Through this presentation, Kallie will draw upon her background in computer science to provide an example of a cross-curricular coding lesson using Scratch, a block-based programming application.

Coding touches every discipline and should not be taught in isolation. Additionally, coding in the core curriculum can engage tactile learners and enhance learning. This session will show how Swift Playgrounds or Scratch can be used to bring coding into your content area. At the conclusion, you will create at least one program for use in a lesson.

During the Fall 2016 Semester, the presenters worked together on an Augmented Reality game in ARIS. Though this collaboration was troublesome at first, each presenter quickly fell into her own role within the team. Built upon the foundation of leadership and school culture, a redesigned learning experience fundamentally shifts the teaching and learning paradigm to one that is personal, while altering the use of authentic assessments, how technology is leveraged, the spaces in which the learning occurs, the way educators grow professionally, how schools collaborate with the community, and ultimately, the sustainability of the system as a whole. In this session, Murray will dissect these eight keys, which each serve as a puzzle piece for redesigning the learning experience, to unlock tomorrow’s schools so that today’s modern learners leave ready to create new industries, find new cures, and solve world problems. I’ll first survey websites (Grammarly et al.) that offer tools to improve student writing, comparing how each addresses grammatical mistakes found in student writing. This poster session describes an online Spanish course for gifted high school students and explores ways to differentiate online instruction for the special needs of these students.

When teachers are introduced to a new technology, they often resist the idea of change. The process of accepting change can be challenging for leaders. This final assessment project combines the traditional translation and scanning of classical Latin poetry with 21st century presentation methods, compelling students to create a music video with an original soundtrack reflecting both the meter and tone of the passage.
