Learning Transformed
Having no historical precedent, the current speed of technological breakthroughs has lead to the coming age of workplace automation, dramatically altering the world of work that our students will enter upon graduation. With the vast disparities of inequity that have existed for centuries, all that is known about how students learn, and the predictions regarding the world that our students will face tomorrow, utilizing a traditional, one-size-fits-all approach to teaching and learning is educational malpractice. Built upon the foundation of leadership and school culture, a redesigned learning experience fundamentally shifts the teaching and learning paradigm to one that is personal, while altering the use of authentic assessments, how technology is leveraged, the spaces in which the learning occurs, the way educators grow professionally, how schools collaborate with the community, and ultimately, the sustainability of the system as a whole. In this session, Murray will dissect these eight keys, which each serve as a puzzle piece for redesigning the learning experience, to unlock tomorrow’s schools so that today’s modern learners leave ready to create new industries, find new cures, and solve world problems. We must create tomorrow’s schools today and you are part of the solution.

Developing Learner-Centered Leadership in 1:1 Environments
Technology can accelerate learning in 1:1 environments, and environments can be learner-centered where learners have voice and choice! Leading in this new learner-centered environment may require specific knowledge, skills, and dispostiions. To explore this new territory, leaders in the Salisbury Township School District are engaging Education Reimagined, learner-centered leaders and learners across the country in the Shift Your Paradigm podcast to uncover the characteristics needed to guide learner-centered transformations. Learner-centered leaders identify and navigate barriers to create opportunities and release agency for learners to engage in unique personalized, learning experiences. Making in the Content Areas: How to Embrace the Maker Mindset in your Classroom on Monday (and Why You Will Want To)
As the Maker Movement sweeps the nation, some classroom teachers fear they’re missing out. Testing pressures, lack of access to a ‘makerspace’ per se, or generally overloaded schedules all provide plenty of incentive to resist the temptation to dive in. But what if a change of mindset is all that was needed? What if teachers saw how a single re-imagined unit or lesson could put students in charge of the learning? During this workshop, we, as a group, will explore, for multiple subjects / content areas, what adopting the ‘maker mindset’ actually looks like in terms of learning experience design, how to assess learning in a maker environment, and why this shift is so crucial to a 21st century education.
